My interest is in technology development to further the study and understanding of neural circuits. My current focus revolves around two-photon calcium imaging and microscopy, to the allow the recording of neural activity in awake behaving animals. I am currently working to develop a series of commercial two-photon calcium imaging microscopes which have increased field-of-view, scanning capabilities, and simultaneous single-cell optogenetic targeting, and online data analysis. Increasing the availability of these systems will allow investigators to more easily combine optical neural recordings, transcriptional and morphological identity, and anatomical wiring and circuit structure in the laboratory.
